A CSA model of agriculture is system that connects the producer directly with local consumers. Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, connects people who want to source the best food available with a local farm. It is an alternative model of food system in that the farmer and the customer share risk. This works by customers or shareholders purchasing a “share” of the farm at the beginning of the season, usually before any production has even started. In exchange, the member is provided a regular interval of fresh, organic food.
Our CSA works by first selecting from one of our three pickup locations: Grand Rapids, Holland and Zeeland (on our farm). Next, choose the share. Our full share is fresh offerings of vegetables and herbs every week, and our half share is every other week. The half share has two selections, A week which starts June 5th and every other week thereafter. B week starts June 12, with pickups every other week thereafter.
Cost Breakdown for a full share: $575/22 weeks = ~$26.14 per share.
Each week we target at least $31.00 worth of vegetables at market value to be in your share. That’s almost $5 of extra produce each week! This is an added benefit of our CSA.
Joining a CSA lets you reconnect with the the food you eat. You will notice a difference in the taste, flavor and nutritional value of your ingredients. You think about meals in reverse by cooking with what you have and what’s in season. You might even help to plant or harvest some of your food as a member during various farm events!
Join our farm community, know your farmer and eat delicious food this year!
